I've been building 2.12rc1 packages. You can find them in under packages/2.12rc1. The whole of the gnome platform, along with nautilus, metacity, the panel, and last but not least evince are there, along with the few dependencies they have beyond the platform. The underlying dropline system hasn't changed, and it seems likely at this point that the only changes that might happen to the dropline base packages are rebuilds when we add support for Slackware 10.2.

A lot has happened in the last few weeks.
For a while we've been talking about moving DLG off of dropline.net. We've made the first baby steps in the last week towards having a new home for the project. Right now we have a new contact page up on droplinegnome.org this should give you an idea of what the new page will roughly look like (although a better place to look would be here: future dlg.org. Its still badly incomplete, but essentially everything is there.
The big thing today is I've been downloading and watching video from GUADEC. Some very interesting stuff about Project TOPAZ. There was a big thread in the gnome-desktop-devel list the other day concerning a mockup, and I'm tempted to make one of my own up. Really though, about 90% of interface changes can likely be made within GNOME 2.x. I really expect to see GNOME 2.20 before we see any sort of 3.0 surface.
I may just make some nautilus and GNOME desktop mockups here in the next week or so, and flash them around. I really didn't care much for what I saw in the last set.

Uploaded another XGL screenshot. This one is the 'definitive' XGL screenshot, as it does what all the other XGL screenshots I've see does, having a video playback translucently.
Did some minor updates on the page. I'm going to update this page to match the startup page soon. How much I'll do I don't know. I'll probably keep the whitespace the same, but change the top bar around to be a grey version of the startup page. It should be very easy.

Done quite a bit done. I managed to get XGL building, if not working perfectly just yet. Most of the software for it seems to have been built for older versions of cairo. Much like cairogears, which has given me much pain. However, thanks to Carl Worth, who pointed out some of the new API to me, I have at least a partially working copy of cairogears now.
You can grab the modified cairogears source in the packages/experimental/source/ directory. The XGL packs are in packages/testing/xgl... I should probably move them into experimental as well now that I have an experimental directory.
And now, a screenshot for your viewing pleasure.

I've been messing around with a new pice of software in the last few days. Specifically I've built the new PDF viewer for Gnome, Evince. It seems pretty nice, and could potentially replace GGV, GPDF, and XPDF completely for us next time around. I've posted a screenshot of it rendering a pdf that chokes xpdf.

Finally managed to get a new machine put together. Its a nice little box (and I do mean little, although not as little as some machines). Its an Athlon 64 3000+ system, on a nforce 4 board. Unfortunately as its so small, theres barely room for anything. I'm going to try to squeeze my old sb live into it (as the onboard audio has been nothing but trouble so far). I tried the Nvidia binary drivers for it out, but they did something nasty to my system that left me with a system that wouldn't boot.
The bigger news however, is that we're now beta testing dropline 2.10. Its taken us quite a while to get this release going, but it really seems to be coming along nicely, and I think we'll be ready to release shortly.

With the confusion and uncertainty thats started to float around regarding today's announcement by Pat, I thought I would try to outline my personal goals surrounding Dropline. What our minimum specifications for a system should be, what should guide us when including (and removing software), and where we should be going.
Added quite a bit of commentary to my future.plan file and updated several entries.

Added my future.plan file. Includes what I would like to see happen for the forseeable future, with some minor notes on things beyond 2.10.x.

Finally got around to updating this to be more than just a plain index file. Most of the subdirectories still are just plain indexes of the files in them, and for now thats fine. This site will see some more cleanup and improvement.
Allowed myself to get distracted in the last few days thinking about the direction for the future, or just small features that I want to see in either 2.8.3 or 2.10. Hopefully I'll get the build system scripts into the sourceforge cvs tomorow. I just don't feel like messing with anymore tonight.
